Company Overview
STAR Medical Auditing Services was founded in 2016 with the mission to provide quality coding and audit services for healthcare facilities, private clinics and other agencies. In addition, the company also provides coding education and bootcamps for coding professionals. Our team of professional medical coders and auditors combined has over 50 years of experience in the field. Founder & CEO
Robyn Petersen
Robyn is a seasoned Outpatient and ProFee Auditor, and holds several professional credentials and certifications. She worked at Maui Memorial Medical Center on Policy and Compliance & Privacy for several years, and also as an outpatient coder. Subsequently, she worked as an auditor for various healthcare solution agencies. Over the years, Robyn has developed a deep passion for the field. Realizing that there is a need for quality auditing services and education, she founded STAR Medical Auditing Services in 2017. Robyn has made it her mission to deliver exceptional medical auditing and coding services to healthcare professionals, and education, mentorship, and joy to fellow coders and auditors.
Robyn hosts quarterly educational webinars for various AHIMA Chapters throughout the country. She also serves as a member on a Utilization Review Panel where she reviews reimbursement denials and subsequent 3rd level appeals.
Robyn has a B.S. degree in Human Resources Management and an A.A.S. degree in Health Information Technology. She lives happily on Maui, Hawaii with her husband, dog, two cats, and parrot.

Co-founder & CSO
Jian Liu
Jian has been with STAR since its early days and has been instrumental in shaping the company into what it is today. He brings to the team over a decade of experience in Healthcare and Technology. As the CSO for STAR, Jian is responsible for the strategic and continual growth of STAR. Extending his passion for entrepreneurship, Jian also works with local entrepreneurs and artists to bring their business vision to life. Over the years, Jian has worked with several Fortune 50 companies as well as with a few startups and non-profits.
Jian holds an MBA and Certificate of Entrepreneurship from University of Washington, Foster School of Business, and obtained his Marketing degree from Seattle University.
Today, he lives happily in upcountry Maui with his family.
Director of Business Development
Marlisa Coloso
Marlisa brings to STAR over 30 years of Health Information Management (HIM) experience. She has worked as a HIM leader with major health organizations in Hawaii including HHSC Kauai and Maui Memorial Medical Center. As the Director of Business Development, Marlisa is responsible for building strong relationships with our customers and providing her expertise to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
Born and raised in Hawaii, the islands are where Marlisa calls home. When she is not tending to her potted orchids, she is relaxing on the beach. Marlisa holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration.

Insewa Berridge
Insewa is a Medical Coding and Auditing rock star with over 17 years experience in the industry. As our Director of Auditing & Coding, her goal is to ensure our team and our clients’ internal team are coding and auditing to the highest standards. She applies her knowledge and skills in several capacities including conducting audits, researching coding and compliance issues, developing coding and auditing tools, and creating coder and provider education along with mentoring new coders.
Insewa lives in Washington state with her three dogs. When she's not working, Insewa enjoys barbecuing, sewing, and building shelves and outdoor cabinets. Prior to becoming an HIM professional, Insewa was in the construction industry for 15 years, running her own company and crew.
